Question

I have type 2 diabetes, and I have been suffering with thrush on my penis. Is there any strong cream I can use? I have used creams before, but it comes back. Would high blood glucose levels bring the thrush back again?

Answer

Thrush (localized infection with a yeast, usually Candida) is common in uncontrolled diabetes: so yes, high blood sugar is a large part of the problem. You will not be able to eliminate the problem without getting control of your diabetes.

Also, if you haven't already discussed this with your physician, you should. Tests can confirm the diagnosis if it's not completely clear from examination. Also, prescription medications (together with blood sugar control) may help eradicate the problem.
