Question
I did a blood sugar on my 10 year old grandson about 20 minutes after he
had eaten a bowl of cereal, and it was 179 mg/dL [9.9 mmol/L]. Isn't this
way too high? Diabetes does run in the family, and I have it. If this is
too high , we need to get him some help.
Answer
This blood sugar is too high, but we cannot make a diagnosis in this venue.
I suggest you advise your grandson's parents to have him properly
evaluated. See diagnosis of diabetes for more information.
