Question

I'm 31 years old, and was diagnosed with diabetes about a month ago.

Is it possible to have had symptoms a year prior to being diagnosed? About two years ago, I was experiencing shortness of breath, dizziness and fatigue. Is this possible? During the next year, the symptoms became more intense with (frequent urination, thirst, and making trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night).

Answer

Symptoms can precede the diagnosis of diabetes, but shortness of breath and dizziness are not symptoms of diabetes. See the discussion of symptoms at this website.
